Meet the Guides
Peter Artley is a native Minnesotan who moved to Kauai with his family in 1989. After highschool Peter went to the University of Southern California in Los Angeles where he graduated with a BA in Psychology in 1999. Hiking and camping in California perpetuated Peter's love for the outdoors and the natural world. After coming home to Kauai for a visit with friends in 2004 the idea for Kauai Eco-Tours germinated. In Spring of 2005 he returned to Kauai and began working on Kauai Eco-Tours with his half-brother, Alex "Kimo" Hawk. With a love of nature, and the environment as a whole Peter has had an easy time expanding his knowledge of Kauai's diverse landscape, plants, birds, insects and history. His hobbies are reading and (surprise!) hiking.
Alex "Kimo" Hawk moved to Kaua'i in 1989 at the age of 8. He's an alumni of Hanalei elementary school and Kapa'a high school where he graduated in 1999. After a brief stint at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, he returned to the Garden Isle and doesn't plan on ever permanently leaving. Growing up on the North Shore, he explored as much of Kaua'i as was possible, on foot or on his bike with his friends. Kimo enjoys educating tourists about his island, and appreciates the opportunity to share with you what a treasure Kaua'i is. He thinks keeping Kaua'i green is everyone's kuleana (responsibility) and tries to keep it the same, or better, than he finds it. He has a deep love for the island of Kaua'i and its natural beauty and looks forward to sharing Kaua'i with You.
